CoreOS layer of containerization <strong>was</strong> based Docker, but now that they moved to <a href="https://github.com/coreos/rkt" class="external-link" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Rocket</a>. Not only Rocket, though: CoreOS brings some curious innovations to lightweight Linux distributions like <em>clusterization</em> with <a href="https://github.com/coreos/fleet" class="external-link" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>fleet</strong></a> and <em>service discovery</em> with <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20190531021446/https://coreos.com/etcd/" class="external-link" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>etcd</strong></a>.</p>
